Andaman Languages
Andaman and Nicobar Island is occupied by people who converse mainly in Hindi. The mother tongue of 15% people is Hindi. The remaining 85% people communicate in other languages. English is the official language. In the islands about 24 languages are spoken in an extensive manner. Punjabi, Nicobari, Tulu, Burmese, Barsi, Sindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Urdu, Karen, Konkini, Manipuri, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarathi, Kannada, Assamese, Rajasthani, Dokri, Munda, Marwari, Nepali, and Oriya are the other languages spoken. The array of languages spoken in the Islands reflect the high degree of migration and settlement from various parts of India and neighbouring countries. |
